Out & About: BE BRAVE’s Campaign

Today, I’ll be taking a break from my usual post on food, events or beauty to talk about something which is a topic that most would avoid. And even if they do talk about it, it’ll be behind closed doors. So, what' I’ll be talking about today is actually Premature Ejaculation (PE) which is is the inability to control or delay ejaculation before or shortly after penetration.

If you read that and wondering why I’m talking about premature ejaculation, it is because it is  something that more people need to be aware of. You may have heard about erectile dysfunction, which is similar to premature ejaculation, whereby it is both recognised as a medical condition by global health organisations. Like most other sexual related conditions, this PE medical condition is accompanied by heavy stigma by our society along with a lack of understanding of the condition in the Asia Pacific region.

Hence due to that, A. Menarini, an international biopharmaceutical company have decided to launch the BE BRAVE campaign to help create awareness among couples regarding this PE condition and that most importantly it is a treatable condition. It is from this campaign that I learnt more about this medical condition and how it can affect one’s sex life. The campaign pretty much aims to give men the courage to speak up about their condition and for their partner, the women to advocate for them.

Part of the BE BRAVE campaign comprises of a interactive online quiz called the “Which Inner Hero Are You” quiz, which is designed to be played by both men and women. In the quiz, the women play to discover which inner hero matches their partners’ personality, while men play to discover their own inner hero. The quiz is available on http://www.bebrave.my/, so hop on over there to give it a try.

If you click on the link above, you’ll be directed to the page above and you can then select your quiz based on your gender. :) I took the “superwoman” quiz, of course. After choosing the type of quiz, you’ll have a series of questions that you will need to answer. If you’re thinking, “Oh dear, is this like a survey or something?”, it’s not actually! You’ll be surprised at how the questions actually are. Here’s an example.

So, you can see from above that the question asked are something like those personality tests type or those quiz to know yourself better. It’s actually pretty interesting to answer these questions and see what happens to the results of the quiz! I don’t want to reveal too much of the questions but some of the questions were something along the lines of naughty thoughts while some actually asked more of a personal preferences to a varied type of questions. And, ta-da! Here’s my result from the “Which Inner Hero Are You” quiz! So, it turns out that my partner would be the “Love Magnet”. Technically, if I had a partner I could match my results with him but hey, I'm currently pretty much single so I don’t have a partner to compare my results with. It would be lovely though if I had a partner and he was as how the quiz described him to be because that’s so mhmm, ah-mazing.

Anyway, on a more serious note, you can see on the top right of the quiz screenshots above that there is a website; www.controlpe.com.my where you can find out more about premature ejaculation and ways to overcome the health condition. That is also the website where I learnt more about this medical condition, where you can find information of the condition, the correct facts, the types of treatment and diagnosis, along with a resources page.

There is also a list of clinics where you can head to, to speak and see the doctors for consultation of men’s sexual health. On top of these all, if you suspect you may have the condition, you can take the Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT Quiz). This will help you decide whether you need to see a doctor for a diagnosis and effective treatment.

Now that I learnt and am more aware of the condition, I have decided that more of my friends need to know about this, especially my girlfriends and the guys too. This condition may affect more people we know than what we expect, hence sharing is indeed caring in respect of this. Out & About: Astro-On-The-Go for Students!

A couple of days earlier, I posted about the Astro On The Go road shows in various campuses around Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. After a rather hectic days of attending classes (7 hours long each day!) and I was looking forward to getting a break from classes! As it turns out I managed to attend the last road show in Sunway University.

Remember I mentioned how I always missed out on road shows in my campus? Well, it was lucky thing I managed to catch the last of the Astro On The Go road shows. By the time I arrived, which was about 10 minutes after they started, I already see a crowd over the computers and there was a queue to sign up as well.

If you didn’t know, signing up for Astro On The Go is absolutely free of charge! After signing up for the account, you can then watch the movies and drama available. Yeap, even with your free account! I’ll elaborate more on the how to sign up for the account and what you can do with your Astro On The Go account below! So read on to find out more. :)

After signing up for a free account, you will get a free goodie bag with an exclusive Astro cap or an Astro notebook and a World Cup chart (with the schedule of the matches too. Talk about convenience!). And to mention, a dip in the lucky draw box which was filled with balls! Besides that, there was a chance to win an official merchandise of the World Cup by simply juggling a football a couple times, using the foot only. At first, the cute emcee asked the guys to give it a try and then, he decided it was more fun to ask the girls to try it. For the girls you just need to juggle three times and guess what Alice, one of the bloggers there gave it a try and managed to!

The best part of was that Alice mentioned that she has never played football before, so she must have had hidden skills to be able to juggle the ball three times. I did give it a try but the ball always ended up knocking against my knee. Urgh, #fail. Haha! Anyway, it was fun being able to attend the road show and learning more about Astro On The Go which I will elaborate and explain to you! If you missed out on the road shows, fret not because you can still sign up for a free account online and I’m going to share with you here what it is actually. :) So, what it basically is (I’m sure everyone knows what Astro is!) that you can stream Astro channels and watch any other movies/shows (even football matches!) via your devices. That includes your mobile phones, tablets and laptops even! This means that you no longer need a TV just to watch Astro!

Before I continue on, let me share with you a story that my mother loves sharing of me; it’s the one about my younger self and the TV. Back in the younger days, I loved watching television, so much so that I would watch it almost every hour of the day. This includes cartoons (Dragon Ball, ftw), Filipino dramas, Bollywood movies and especially those telenovelas from Spain (anyone remembers Rosalinda or Yo Soy Betty La Fea?).

As my mom loves to share, she would retell the stories of how addicted I was to the TV that regardless of what was showing, I would sit down and have my eyes literally glued to the TV. I still it’s hilarious to think I used to be like that, because really now, I hardly ever watch the TV. It is not because I don’t like watching it, but rather I don’t have the time anymore.

But with Astro On The Go, I can now catch up on all my favourite TV shows through my phone and even my laptop. You don’t need to be an Astro customer to be able to access the content, all you need is an Astro ID which you can sign up through here https://onthego.astro.com.my. The picture below shows you how to sign up for an account via android devices. It’s super easy! You can download the app from Google Play or the App Store!

Once you have successfully registered and logged in, you can then choose to subscribe to get more channels and content (like movies and shows) on your AOTG app. Currently, there are three package for the channels available on AOTG. If you see below, it’s only RM30 per month, which means you technically pay only RM1 for these unlimited shows on the channels.

But if you prefer to watch shows just from a particular channel only, like say AstroAEC, then you can just opt to pay for that channel only. For the pay-per-channel, the price per channel ranges from RM5 to RM15 per channel per month. Still rather cheap I would say, and I get to choose what I want to watch. Of course, it’ll be more value for money to get those packages one. By the way, these are for non-Astro subscribers.

Now, if you already have Astro or is an existing Astro customer you must be thinking, “do I have to pay extra?”  Well, not if you are a Super Pack, Multiroom, Sports Pack and Value Pack customers of Astro. In fact, you’ll have premium access to AOTG for free and immediately upon signing up & logging in, you’ll get access to the channels, shows and movies. (The access will differs according to which package you’re currently subscribed to on your TV)

If you’re other customers of Astro (not in the above), then you can access free contents on the AOTG portal or you can subscribe to any of the selected  shows/movies/channels that you wish to. Again, since this is Astro On The Go, it means that you can catch your shows at anytime and anywhere!

And now, if you are interested to try Astro On The Go, but is not an Astro subscriber but yet you want to have a taste of how it works..you can actually do so! Because there is a basic access which is available for free to everyone; the Astro Awani channel, a couple of Astro ARENA content, first episodes of popular shows & drama series, movies and some selected LIVE sports. I am still thoroughly amazed that I can watch these shows and movies straight from phone which is such a convenience because now I have something to do rather than just stoning, or browsing my social media while killing time. I have been using it for about a week plus and I found it super convenient!

I have been watching them when I’m stuck in the jam, when I’m not driving of course! And when I’m in campus, in between classes and during break times. Then, there was a day when Emily, my friend went camera shopping with best friend, Alex and I was feeling bored. So I ended up watching a couple of shows while tagging along with them from one shop to another.

Out & About: Astro on the Go’s Campus Roadshows

Having entered the working life a couple of years ago, I always find myself wishing I was back being a student. There are just so many perks of being a student ; all you technically need to do is pass your exams and there is almost nothing else to worry about. Besides that obvious reason, there is another perk in being a student. Restaurants, retails companies and brands are always dishing out fantastic offers to students!

I remember back when I was back in Sunway University, the Energy Hub (Cafeteria area) was often brimming with activities and not to mention, tonnes of freebies! We had food and drinks to sample before, charity bazaars over there, models search contests and even a live photo shoot session before.

And guess what now? A little birdy just told me that Astro is currently running Astro on the Go roadshow at various campuses around Kuala Lumpur area! Oh, being a university student is such a bliss! You get to attend all these fun roadshows. :)

Event: Malaysia’s Largest Clothes Buffet, 2014 Edition!

It’s probably no huge surprise that the two things I love the most is food and clothes. You can tell from the amount of food posts in my blog to know how much I love them, and as for clothes, you’re looking at someone who is capable of buying 10 dresses in three hours. I always found it amusing that I can do that, but at the same time it’s not healthy. I can feel myself turning into a compulsive shopaholic!

Much to the dismay of my mother, unfortunately. It reached to a state where she actually bans me from buying anymore clothes and now, she is trying to keep track of the amount of clothes I have (every time I get something new). So much so, that it had actually inspired a new photography project, check my Instagram for the pictures. So, I’m technically not supposed to be shopping. Except someone heard my prayers and now we have the Malaysia’s Largest Clothes Buffet.

I’m going to tell my mom I’m going for a BUFFET, except that it’s a clothes buffet now. The concept is so amazing, because just like in an actual buffet, there is plenty of food to pick from and you can eat everything that your stomach can take! It’s exactly the same for the Clothes Buffet. You’ll get these 9 x 14 inches ziplock bag for just RM60, and then, you enter the ‘buffet’ area and grab/stuff as many pieces you can into the bag in just 15 minutes! As long as you can fit the clothes into the bag and zip it, everything is yours to take!

This a whole new level of shopping, and it already sounds so exciting! I can just imagine how crazy I’ll go seeing all those clothes and having to pick within 15 minutes. Review: SEKKISEI Basic Travel Set by KOSÉ

Most ladies all around the world would agree with me when I say taking good care of our skin is one of our top priority in life. Who’d say no to looking beautiful and radiant, right? Recently, I attended a beauty workshop by KOSÉ with a few of my friends, whereby we had the opportunity to learn the basics of skincare using the SEKKISEI range.

These were the products we got to use during the beauty workshop; we started using them in the order from the left to the right. From the outermost left, is the Cleansing Cream, followed by the Lotion which can be used with a special compressed mask to become a mask, and the Emulsion, finally the BB Cream. We were guided through each steps of the skin care products, including the proper way to apply and use them.

These pictures are basically show you what went down during the beauty workshop, most of the pictures except the ‘selfies’ one were taken by one of the super nice guy from KOSÉ, who took my camera and helped me shoot while I was busy listening and following the instructions of the steps. This was my first time attending a beauty workshop which covered the basic skincare and up to even doing out make up on the spot.

And after the workshop, we even got to bring home our very own, SEKKISEI Basic Travel Set for us to use and to review, of course! Like most travel sized goodies, there are compact and adorably sized, which makes them extra convenient to carry around.

Personally, I have a very strict regime for my skin that I stick to after fine tuning it for years. But here’s the thing, I have heard really good reviews for KOSÉ and now, I have the whole basic set with me. Then, I thought why not try it and see how it’s like. So, here’s a short review on the products.

| White Liquid Wash |

First impression of the wash, is that it is very smooth and almost watery-like. When you place it over your wet face, there won’t be much bubbles (I have heard before that bubbles are not actually that good, correct me if I’m wrong) and it’s just really easy to apply it over the face.

I realised it was quite gentle on the skin, and there isn’t any noticeably strong fragrance, but rather it’s a more natural smell. This is because the whole SEKKISEI range are made prominently with natural extracts of Chinese herbs. 

| Lotion |

This is called lotion, although we may be more familiar with calling it toner. It acts almost similarly to a toner, and the application of it is also similar to that of a toner.

Pour the lotion on to a cotton pad, and pat gently over the face. I like how quickly it was absorbed and it left my skin feeling rather light. This product contains whitening effect with the extracts of Angelica root, Coix seed, Melothria root extract and Licorice which have detoxifying effect. Besides using it as a lotion, you can also use this lotion as a mask. During the workshop, we actually used this lotion with a compressed face mask as our face mask!

Here is a picture of the compressed mask with the lotion in action. See how it expands when it is dipped in the lotion? And this is the same mask we had on our faces, in the pictures above! Super duper uber cool right? :) This lotion is rather amazing because it has tonnes of benefits; it promotes translucency, better penetration for the skin to absorb the nutrients, moisturizing, zero pores, whitening, smoothing, firming, relaxing and evenness of the skin tone.

| Emulsion |

This is called the emulsion, or in other words, it is pretty much similar to a moisturizer. The application however, is bit different from the typical ones where you apply straight on to your face with your fingers.

As you can see, the emulsion is really really light and watery as well. Hence, a cotton pad is used and like the lotion above, you can lightly pat it on your skin. Again, I love how lightweight this product is on my face, and it really doesn’t leave a ‘sticky’ feeling. Similar as the lotion, it also contains whitening extract but in addition to that, this has Inula Britanica Flower extract to brighten the skin and also Paeonia Albiflora Root extract for detoxification.

| Sun Protect Gel |

Like the few products above, this sun protect gel is actually a sunblock with SPF50/PA+++. And the best part about this, is that it also doubles up as a make up base. This for me is pretty much a winner for me, because I am so often confused as to when should I apply my sunblock. Before or after, my make up base?? But with this, I never have to ask myself this anymore, haha!

Just like the rest of the product from this range, it is very lightweight and this feel velvety after the application, which makes it perfect as a make up base. In my honest opinion, I quite like this sun protect gel, because it is very absorbent. The ingredients used for this are; Glycerin, Coix Seed essence (to moisturize), Angelica essence, Melothria essence (to whiten) and Sasa Veitchii essence as an antioxidant.

And here’s a picture of some of the oriental plant extracts that KOSÉ uses in their SEKKISEI range. Personally, I think this is the first time I heard of a beauty brand who promotes and uses oriental herbal plants in their products. I have always felt that natural products work better than chemical ones like how I swear by my simple tomato mask.

Review: NIVEA In-Shower Skin Conditioner

Malaysian weather is a hot, sunny and humid one, something that all Malaysians would undoubtedly agree with me. Growing up, I realise how important it is to take care of my face; I almost never leave house without wearing my SPF50 sunblock! I hate to admit that although I put so much emphasis on caring for my face, I cannot say the same about my skin. My hands and legs are pretty much exposed to the sun too, as I’m always outdoor too.

So, here’s the thing. I did try to make an effort to put on some lotion before I head to work every morning but more often than not, I’ll end up forgetting to put them on. Especially on those days when I’m in a hurry to get to work. But guess what, it’s like someone knew about all these and invented the best thing ever (for me, that’s what I like to think).

There’s a new product called the In-Shower Skin Conditioner by NIVEA, where you apply the product in the shower and wash it off afterwards. The amazing thing is that it works pretty similar as a hair conditioner, where you apply it on and you can rinse it off later. Except that, this is even better. You can apply it and immediately rinse it off, instead of leaving it on for a couple of minutes.

Out & About: The 100 Plus Interactive Vending Machine

Hello! If you follow me on Twitter, you must have read my tweets about the 100 Plus Interactive Vending Machine. It’s the first ever interactive machine in Malaysia, and I’ve been pretty excited to try and play on it. By the time I knew about it, I missed the first few couple ones in Kuala Lumpur area and all was left are those in the other states. :( But on the last minute, I was informed that they will be in The Otomotif College (TOC) on Dec 9. That’s when I thought, whoa, I’m so going to make a trip down there on Dec 9. If not, I’ll have to wait till Dec 21 to head over to Sunway Pyramid to try it.

So, I woke up early on December 9 and made my way all the way to TOC. After a long drive there, I arrived to a quiet college. There was alarm bells ringing all over my head then, what if they are not here? That had been a mistake made? I asked the staff there, only to be told that the 100 Plus crew have came a few days earlier. :( You have no idea how devastated I was, especially since I was on leave on that day also. UGH.

In this new era of social media world that we live in, I’m sure you would have seen a video of an vending machine which dispenses canned drinks for free when you do something. And that something is definitely not inserting coins or feeding the machine with money. Cash is the last thing the machine wants. I recalled the last few videos I watched required a kiss, hugs or something unpredictable to get a can from the machines. I always wished we could have one of those machines here in Malaysia, I mean, “That’s so cool! Why don’t we have cool stuff like that here??”

But guess what, my wished came true! There is an interactive vending machine in Malaysia and it could be hitting the towns nearby your area. Review: Biolyn’s Phyto Hyaluronic Acid Solution for Skin

Just recently I blogged about the Biolyn's Hair Spa experience and how awesome it was, and during that Hair Spa, I was given a free product to try. It is called the Phyto Hyaluronic Acid Solution for Skin and I decided to do a review of the product. (I’m actually dabbling with blogging reviews of the product I used, not only the nail polish but beauty products as well.)

The product is packaged in a simple bottle. I’m not able to read the Chinese words being the ‘banana’ I am, but the other details are written in English. So no worries if you’re like me. Heh. Anyway, as described on the bottle, this product hydrates, firms, soothe and whiten the skin. It is stated that it might take up to 30 days to see the effect, but, I have been using this product on my face for about a few days already, and I’ve noticed that my face looks slightly fairer and clearer as well. It isn’t very noticeable, hence I didn’t take a picture of my face.

Here is a close up picture of the bottle. Rest assured that this is a natural product, since its ingredients are extracted from premium white fungus. I was born with sensitive skin, so I have to be careful with the type of products I used, but I didn’t have any allergic reactions towards this product. Possibly since it is free from allergens, like proteins.

This is the cap of the bottle, and you’ll have to tilt the bottle to pour the product out. Very easy to use and I don’t need to screw any cap back on. Super convenient when I’m in the rush especially, which is most of the time. Haha.

You don’t need to apply a lot of the product, it is advisable to do it by drops. After pouring a few drops, you’ll just need to spread it on your skin. And, ta-da, the product is fully absorbed into your skin. I really love how well and fast it gets absorbed, and it doesn’t leave any traces of sticky feel. I have a huge issue with products that leaves that kind of feel on my skin, it is very very uncomfortable to me. Because it get absorbed pretty fast, it’s really easy for me to include into my daily regime for my face. I’m actually using it to replace my moisturiser, so far, it seems to be good. Doesn’t clog up my pores, so no worries about pimples.

In fact, it claims to minimize pores, lighten dark spots and reduces oil secretion if used on face. I find that it actually does help because my face is less oily ever since I started using this product. From the picture, you’ll find that this product can be used on other areas of the body since it’s basically a skin care product.

As you can see the product really works! It gave my dry, peeling skin an instant hydration. Definitely handy to have this product if you suffer from dry skin. :) I’m looking forward to the end of the 30 days period to see if the product would give a more noticeable change for my face but by I’m already loving the product so far.
