Ever since I was little, I have had moments where I dreamed about how
wonderful it is if I could be a princess or at the very least, dress up as one.
But frankly, I never got to during my childhood. My parents brought me up in a
way that I never did quite demanded for things, I just learnt to live without
that need. Over the years though, I grew up and I didn’t revisit that fantasy
until recently, when I tried on wedding dresses for the first time at Ivory White Bridal House. Now
I know why wedding gowns are such an important part of a wedding, there is just
an indescribable feeling.

The cold rainy weather we’ve been experiencing these days make it perfect for steamboat meals, especially for the spicy Sichuan type. If you’re familiar with the Sichuan cuisine, you’ll know that it has very bold flavours, especially in terms of spiciness which results from the generous use of their chilli peppers, and their very own unique flavour of Sichuan pepper. People of Sichuan are very fond of hot and spicy taste, hence you can certainly expect this if you’re dining in an authentic Sichuan cuisine here in Malaysia.

In about one month time, we’ll be celebrating my favourite festive season in the whole year, which is the lunar Chinese New Year in 2017! There is just so many reasons that it’s my favourite season, excluding the ang pao(s), the best part about Chinese New Year is being able to feast endlessly. It is meals after meals, eating after eating.. all the delicious food that I will have. One of my all-time favourite food is the steamboat and I remember it being a common food to have, usually for reunion dinner.

I first heard of Boozeat when I came across their free flow of freshly shucked oysters at only RM99. Considering that I've paid for fresh oysters which goes up to RM18 per piece, RM99 for an unlimited supply of it seems like a good deal. Unfortunately I haven't been able to attend of these events because my weekends are so often packed with activities and I couldn't also find a friend who loves oysters as much as I did.

About couple of weeks ago, I had a delivery of Domino’s Top Secret pizza. It was called Top Secret then because even I didn’t know what the flavour was called. I could only taste it and roughly figure out what the ingredients were. I know that there were cherry tomatoes, pineapple, chicken (a few different types of chicken!) and this was made together with a nice different mayo-based sauce. Different from their other pizzas, yums delicious!
I was lucky enough to have this pizza delivered to me before the official menu launch on 1st November 2015. This was actually part of the #DTopSecret campaign by Domino’s. They even had a 50% discount code promotion in October before the menu is launched to encourage the public to order more pizzas in anticipation of the new top secret menu! The pizza is now available to all, so do hop on over to https://www.dominos.com.my/ or your nearest Domino’s outlet to place your order.
As you can see, the pizza I had was actually called Chicken Confidential! The chicken lovers should rejoice indeed, because it actually has three different types of chicken; chicken potpurri, roasted chicken and shredded chicken. Every bite into the pizza, was yums! On top of that, if you’re a fan of Classified Chicken, there is 35% more chicken and the Top Secret sauce is used for the pizza too. This sauce is also used in the Vegie Fiesta.
Besides that, pizzas are now made more affordable, thanks to cheaper combo pizza deals. The prices (see above) have been reduced even more and this is great for the upcoming celebrations especially or even on just days you have pizza cravings! So, what are you waiting for? Remember that you can also place your order online at https://www.dominos.com.my/ , at the convenience of your house or office! Actually basically anywhere that has Internet and where the Domino’s guys can deliver to you.

To celebrate the end of the #dTopSecret campaign, I was invited to the private movie screening of Spectre! The dress code was Top Secret, so the first thing that came to mind was to dress up as an undercover agent.
The best part of the screening was being served pizzas during the movie! This is so cool, because in any normal screening you wouldn’t have been allowed to bring food into the cinema.
At the end of the movie screening, they announced the best dressed for the night and I won for the ladies category! Yay, now I have pizzas for an entire year. If you want some pizzas too, invite me to your parties and I’ll bring the pizza!

Japanese cuisines have and will always be one of my favourite cuisine, from the sashimi to the udon and ramen. I have mad love for them all. :) But there is one type of Japanese food which I rarely been able to try which is the kushiyaki or may be more famously known as the yakitori. Here’s what the Wikipedia said about it.
The term "yakitori" can also refer to skewered food in general. Kushiyaki (skewer grilled), is a formal term that encompasses both poultry and non-poultry items, skewered and grilled. Both yakitori and kushiyaki are used interchangeably in Japanese society to refer to skewered meat collectively; however, when referring to a specific item, yakitori will not be used unless the primary meat is chicken. – as per Wikipedia
The reason why I don’t have yakitori often enough is probably because I don’t know of many Japanese restaurants that serves them delicious and yummy. Well that was only until I discovered Ri-Yakitori which is conveniently located at St. Giles, The Gardens Hotel. The restaurant is specialised in serving mainly grilled skewered meats cooked using charcoal!
Here are some pictures of the food that I had that night, which ranged from a few different types of yakitori and some other delicious yummy Japanese food.
Cabbage Salad | Complimentary
Fried Garlic Mussel with Steamed Sake | RM 29
Yakitori Moriawase (Assorted Grilled Chicken) | RM 38
Yakiniku Wagyu Beef On Skewer | RM 41
Tempura Moriawase | RM 58

My favourite dishes for the night was the Yakitori Moriawase, which allowed me to sample the different varieties of chicken yakitori parts. Really loved the wings of everything else on that platter. My next best one would be ahh, the Wagyu Beef on Skewer. The beef was tender and very well marinated, almost melting in your mouth. Oh so lovely! Another dish I loved would be the Tempura Moriwase. I’m usually not a fan of tempura because of the thick batter used, but at Ri-Yakitori, the batter used was light, fluffy and crispy! Dipped together with the dipping sauce, yums!
All in all, I had a wonderful experience dining at Ri-Yakitori. It was one of the best Japanese meals especially the yakitori, that I have had. The ambiance there is cosy and it’s a suitable place to unwind after work. Or you can bring your partner here for a date night too. It’s located on the 7th floor of Gardens Hotel and there is an option to be seated by the window. You’ll be treated then to a view of the Mid Valley city and also a glimpse of Bangsar, I think.

Whenever I think of the neighbourhood malls in Petaling Jaya, places like Jaya 33 comes to mind. I have been to Jaya 33 once when there was a conference in DUMC and I remember having trouble deciding on a place to eat. There is nothing that I fancy eating in Jaya 33 (I know there is a nice Chinese restaurant there). But that time, I wanted something simple, much like comfort food for me.
I was recently invited to Ramen Ten & Shin Tokyo Sushi which to my surprise was located in Jaya 33. This was much to my delight because I have always been a fan Japanese food. It makes me happy to know now that there is affordable and tasty Japanese food in that area. So, what is tasty from Ramen Ten & Shin Tokyo Sushi? Read on to know more. :)

Soft Shell Crab To Salmon Skin Salad | RM 23.90
Soft Shell Crab To Salmon Skin Salad | RM 23.90
Soft Shell Crab To Salmon Skin Salad | RM 23.90
In the past couple of months, I found myself favouring salads over any main courses. This change in eating habits is probably due my conscious decision to maintain a healthier lifestyle. So, I was pretty excited to try this when it arrived looking so deliciously yummy. The Soft Shell Crab To Salmon Skin Salad was no ordinary soft shell crab salad, because it was served with a meaty chunk of crab. You can still see the obvious outline of the crab there. This, I like! Every bite of the salad, I could taste the crispy crab meat. Coupled with the sesame sauce along with the Japanese lave egg and salmon skin, these are all match made in culinary heaven! I’d strongly recommend you to give this a try!
Santen Sashimi Moriawase | RM33.90
Santen Sashimi Moriawase | RM33.90
This platter of sashimi arrived looking so much like a piece of art installation; it was gorgeously decorated. It was a difficult decision I had to make when I decided to eat this piece of art. But ah, savouring the fresh sashimi of salmon, salmon’s belly and tuna was just as good as admiring the beauty of the platter. I found the sashimi to be fresh and reasonably priced.
Chuka Santen Moriawase | RM 15.90
If sashimi are not your type of dishes, then maybe you can try the seasoned moriawase. Here, we have platter of seasoned baby octopus, seasoned jellyfish and seasoned snail. Frankly, I’m a fan of both seasoned and raw sashimi so I would pick both of them any day! Come to momma :p
Chicken Teriyaki Dry Ramen | RM 16.90
Chicken Teriyaki Dry Ramen | RM 16.90
I have only remembered eating a dry ramen once, and even then, it didn’t quite leave a memorable impression on me. Needless to say, it was rather meh. Ramen Ten’s version was lighter and simpler on the flavour, where you have the option of fresh vegetables on the side to eat together with. Either you’ll toss it together with the ramen or you eat it on its own. The chicken teriyaki was also tasty and was well marinated. You’ll be delighted to know that the chicken teriyaki also comes in Chicken Teriyaki Don Set too. Have them awesome chicken teriyaki with rice, mini salad, miso salad, appetizers and Japanese lava egg!
Tom Yum Chicken Katsu Ramen | RM 22.05
Tom Yum Chicken Katsu Ramen | RM 22.05
The highlight of the day was a surprising ramen dish which came in one of my favourite flavour. The tom yum flavour! To begin with I had no expectation that Ramen Ten would serve fusion ramen but this arrived to the table looking absolutely yummy! It has more of the curry soup appearance but trust me, it’s tom yum flavour and it packs a punch! It was those dish that look unassuming, but one gulp down your throat and it just kicks in! This is my personal favourite I would really recommend this. The ramen is served with chicken katsu.
Deluxe Combo Set | RM 28.90
If you’re feeling rather ambitious or you’re there with your friends, you might want to try out Deluxe Combo Set which consists of sashimi, noodles, rice, chawanmushi, tempura, California roll, miso soup, salad and fruits. This way, you’ll be able to sample a little bit of everything. If you have a larger appetite, I’m sure you would be able to finish it all too.
Asari Butter Soup | RM 11.90
I have a soft spot for anything which has seafood in it. And then there is butter, this amazing marvellous creation which makes any dish super delicious. So when you have combination of both, ah, this is another culinary heaven. I did have one wish though, that the clams had meatier flesh. But then again, the Asari type of clams typically are less fleshy compared to other clams.
So, all in all, I had an enjoyable time sampling these few dishes from Ramen Ten & Shin Tokyo Sushi. I would be happy to say that I would want to visit the restaurant again to try the rest of the dishes and also for whenever I have mad cravings for Soft Shell Crab To Salmon Skin Salad! If you want to pay them a visit, there is no better time to do so than now because they are running a promotion at their respective outlets;

I first heard of the term, casual French dining during my visit to Foodlogy. It’s a French restaurant which is located beneath the Viva Residency condominium. Frankly, it was my first time coming across the term so I was indeed excited to try what kind of dishes that the restaurant would have.
The restaurant is spacious with a pretty simple, no frills decor to it. If you come in the evening, it’ll be a suitable place to chill and dine since it is rather quiet in the restaurant. (I’m starting to think, I should at least snap a picture of the interior so that at least it’ll be easier to illustrate how the restaurant looks like. Mental note to self.)

Mushroom & Truffle Cream Soup | RM 18.90
Potato Artichoke Salad | RM 18.90
Mandarin Orange Salad | RM 16.90
Sardine Sandwiches | RM 21.90
Our meal started off with a rich creamy soup of Mushroom & Truffle Cream Soup, followed by the two salads of Potato Artichoke Salad & Mandarin Orange Salad. What I appealed to me as I was looking through the menu was the use of truffle in a what would have been a normal mushroom soup. If it wasn’t for the use of truffle in the soup, the soup would be just another mushroom soup. This is my first time having the soup of suchcombination and I must say, I did quite enjoy the soup.
The salads arrived looking rather colourful, and simply was not as I expected them to be. There were a lot of different ingredients used for the salads and eating them made it a fun experience as we tried to guess what was inside them salads. All in all, I would say the salads were refreshing to have.
Sardine Sandwiches | RM 21.90
Next up, was a hors d'oeuvre of sardine sandwiches. The sardines are actually from a tin, imported from Spain and simply placed over toasted baguette. As simple as it is, this sandwiches taste better than the ones that would usually need more effort to make. Surprise, surprise. So really sometimes it is the simple things that means the most, eh?
Chicken A-la Cream | RM 25.90
Steak A-la Bleu | RM 59.90
Duck Breast with Smoked Tea & Soya Sauce | RM 29.90
Poached Salmon With Herbs Court Bouillon | RM 39.90
The first main course to arrive was the Chicken A-la Cream which personally appeared to be rather different than what I had expected it to be. Chicken were served sliced, giving impression that the serving size is rather small. They look better suited to be cooked as a side dish though. Taste-wise, it was pretty decent but that didn’t leave much of an impression.
The Steak A-la Bleu, which is a stark contrast to the chicken dish earlier on with its thick slab of meat cooked with a super rich blue cheese. Super cheesy, you don’t even need to taste it to know it’s that rich. It’s a 200g rib eye steak, cooked rare. The cheese overpowers that almost raw meat taste and frankly, I love it like that. But then again, I’m bias probably because of my love for cheese.
Duck Breast with Smoked Tea & Soya Sauce, was an unlikely choice for me because chances are I wouldn’t have picked that. But boy, was I pleasantly surprised with this dish. I hadn’t had much expectation of it mainly because I probably didn’t know what to expect. The duck meat, was well marinated with 'Lapsang Souchong' Smoked Tea. Although it is a seemingly odd choice of cooking method, but I can reassure you that this is something you have to try from the restaurant.
Then, there is Poached Salmon With Herbs Court Bouillon, where you have 180 grams of just poached salmon. This was another simple dish, but the best part was in the dill sauce which was accompanied along it. Personally though, I was just smitten with how fresh the salmon is and natural it tasted. That was the best part of the dish for me.
Seafood Pasta in White Wine Reduction Sauce | RM 45.90
My expectation of the Seafood Pasta in White Wine Reduction Sauce had a lot to do with the price of the dish, I mean it is only fair to have a rather high expectation of the pasta based on the price of the dish. There are shrimps, scallops, fish meat and also squid in ink sauce. The squid in ink sauce, along with the wine used in the dish is the reason why the price is above average.
Choux A-la Creme | RM 12.90
Crepes Suzettes | RM 15.90
* * * * * * * * * *
After the dining sessin in Foodlogy, I came to the conclusion that the term casual French dining is due to the dishes being loosely based on the French cuisine but up to the chef’s interpretation on what these dishes should be made. And this was exactly what the chefs told me afterwards as well. Here’s a fun fact about the restaurant; it is started by two sisters who had a passion in cooking. After learning from a French chef, they were inspired to start the restaurant.
And that’s all I have for this post, but wait, I’ll let you in on a little secret since you read this post till the end. One of the surprisingly delicious dish here is not actually a French dish but a local Malaysian favourite which is made from the family’s recipe.
Foodlogy Nasi | RM 18.90
So if you’re really not a fan of French food, do yourself a huge favour by trying the Foodlogy Nasi. You can always thank me later for this, or better yet, treat me to one plate of this yummy goodness! Okay, I’ll end my post here with the details of the restaurant so that you can hop by over.
