Out & About: Escape Room, Setiawalk

By now, you must have somehow heard about Escape Room and if you haven’t, you are reading the right post for it! Haha. Well, I’m going assume not everyone will know about it. So very briefly, Escape Room is a basically an escape game whereby you and your friends will be trapped in a room/several rooms and your aim is to try to escape from these rooms.

This is pretty much like in a video game whereby you start out in a certain level and to move on, you have to solve puzzles and complete certain tasks. And like all games, there is also a final stage when you complete the game. How Escape Room is that it is a like a real life video game and every room you are in is a level on its own. The aim in every room is to escape and move into the next room until you reach the final stage/room.

A few weeks ago, I was invited to give Escape Room in Setiawalk a try along with some of my friends. I picked the CRIME SCENE: THE HOMICIDE UNIT. For each of the room you picked, there is a background story behind it and basically that sets the mood for the game/room. And this was the background story for the room that I chose;
“You are the captain of an elite team of police forensic evidence investigation experts. You and your team have been called into investigating a homicide case at a glamorous estate building, after the murderer responsible effectively covered his tracks to baffle the police force. However, after hearing that you are on the verge of exposing his identity; he has set out to trap and eliminate you completely. You and your team have 45 minutes to gather the evidence needed to expose the killer’s identity, while figuring out a way to escape from the brilliant murder’s fatal grasp, or suffer an unthinkable fate.”
For more information on the room that I chose, you can head over here; http://www.escaperoom.com.my/setiawalk/game/crime-scene-the-homicide-unit-1. So, anyway I’ll run you through quickly what happened but but of course, I will not be talking about how the game was because it will be spoilers for you! I’ll be pretty much be spoiling the fun for you peeps then.

* * * * * * * * * *

I booked the room before I headed there (you can book it here http://www.escaperoom.com.my/setiawalk/booking) to make sure that I get the room I want for the date and time I preferred. On the day itself, I received a call from Escape Room team to check/remind me that my session is in 30 minutes time. It is advisable to arrive at least 15-20 mins earlier so that they can give you a short briefing on the rules and a couple tips too. Alternatively, if you didn’t book in advance you can still walk in but you would only be able to play any available rooms instead of your own preference.

So, when my friends and I arrived, we were first informed to keep our bags in the locker provided (including all of our handphones) except for three. The three handphones are to be used as flashlights! Be sure to fully charge your handphones. Then, we were brought into the room of our choice and given a short briefing; which consists of instructions with tips.

Like I said earlier, I won’t be talking about the type of puzzles there are in the room. But I was allowed to snap some pictures of the room, just to give you an idea of what to expect. Since mine was murder case, there were dead ‘bodies’ in some of the rooms and there was this creepy Chinese songs playing in the background. That so didn’t help when we were trying to solve the puzzle.

A word of advice to solve the puzzles? You have to think think out of the box, because sometimes it is not just what it is. There could be an underlying meaning to it. In the end, we only managed to make it through to the third room and to think that I already have the smartest people with me that day! HAHA. And oh, by the way you can actually ask for help by pressing on buzzer but you can only do that three time.

After the end of our time, an "Escape Marshall" will come into the room to ‘rescue’ you and he will even run through the clues with you to show you how to solve the puzzles and then escape from the room with you. When we were shown the way to get out, I personally thought we would never have been to get all the clues right if we made it to the fourth room. I guess that is why the difficulty level for the room was rated four out of five.

But all in all, I had a fun time with my friends and it was rather enjoyable albeit it leaving me feeling rather dumb. Haha! So, if you are interested to experience it for yourself with your friends, you can head over to Escape Room in Setiawalk then!

By the way, the games are RM32 per person on weekdays and RM36 per person on weekends + public holidays. For more information, please visit http://www.escaperoom.com.my/setiawalk/!

Snaps: #foodporn from myBurgerLab

myBurgerLab needs no introduction, having been in the scene for quite a while now. Even with so many burger joints mushroom-ing up, myBurgerLab remains as one of my favourite places to go for beef burgers. I was over at the Seapark branch the other week and as usual, I snapped away. So, I’ll post the pictures here as a #foodporn entry. Haha.

The desserts below were from Project C, myBurgerLab’s pop up cafe in the Seapark branch only. My friend wanted to try some of the desserts and these was what we had. One was lemon custard, and another was green tea. Personally, I thought they were just okay. The lemony custard was super sour, only I liked it because I love sour things! Green tea was power-packed intense, depends on how much you like green tea.

Review: Cellnique’s Intensive Hydro Repair Elixir

Intensive Hydro Repair Elixir, 30ml | RM199

Hola! I have been pretty busy with work lately, working till the AM and then doing it again. Well, it’s pretty much the busy time for my line of profession and that explains why my updates have been sporadic. This time around, I’m taking some time off to write a review on Intensive Hydro Repair Elixir by Cellnique. I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but I have a rather strict beauty regime that I stick to. I have a couple of cleansers, just one moisturiser and one type of sunblock that I use. And I swear by this regime, because it is perfect for me. It is rare that I would add or substitute another beauty product into my regime.

Intensive Hydro Repair Elixir, 30ml | RM199

But when I first heard about the Intensive Hydro Repair Elixir, I found out that it contained an ingredient that I came to learn about years ago but till today I never did try. It was the Snail Mucin. If you don’t actually know what it is, it’s snail slime! Yes, you may say eww! But here’s the thing, I have heard how miraculously they were and I have always wanted to try the creams/masks, but I never got around to it.

So now, you know why I decided to give Cellnique’s Intensive Hydro Repair Elixir a try. How did it fare? For this product, I decided to substitute it with my moisturiser. Instead of using my usual moisturiser, I used this instead. I have been using it for three weeks already now, so I’ll be able to share with you how the product is for my skin.

Unlike most of my beauty products, this came with a dropper. Apparently, I was supposed to drop it onto my fingers and I just have to apply it like that. I found that different than my usual gel cream. But then again, this is a water based serum. The product write up found on the website (here), recommends it to be used day and night after cleanser, toner and eye care.

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s a water based serum so you can see from above that it’s rather watery. I didn’t attempt to shoot it with a droplet on my hand like I would usually do because it’ll just slide down. It’s that watery. Application wise, what I do is that I use two drop for my cheeks and another one for my forehead. I applied them in circular motion using my middle finger also known as the beauty finger, the finger with the lesser pressure.

The product is scentless and clear. When applied, it absorbs rather quickly. Which what I loved most in beauty products, because I despise products which leave a sticky residue feeling. I read some comments that it wasn’t hydrating enough, but for me, I think the products works fine just for me. In fact, from the write up the product contains Hyaluronic Acid.
“A powerful water binding agent which able to give skin 1,000 times more hydration. When hyaluronate acid is applied on the surface of the skin, it forms a permeable layer to lock in moisture, leaving skin a healthy and youthful appearance.”
For me, it works great as a substitute for my gel cream and I don’t see my skin flaking or peeling which means it hydrating enough for me. But don’t expect any sensation when applied, but just because it doesn’t have does not mean it’s not good enough. :)

These two pictures show a comparison of my complexion from the first day I used the product and then, a week later. In a week, you can see my face is less flushed and my skin healthier in the second picture. I definitely look less tired and these pictures were taken after I woke up. So, according to the website, here are the benefits of using the products.
  • Moisturizing and repairing elixir
  • Skin cell regeneration and repairing to damaged and aged skin
  • Moisture barriers over the skin to keep skin vitalized
  • Enhance the moisture retention capacity of dry skin
  • Reduces dryness and wrinkles
  • Fresh and revived skin

When I first started using this product, I had no expectations on why and how it would work on my face. And personally, I found it to be rather good especially when I can see the results in just under 7 days. My current gel cream only moisturises my skin but I never did notice any effect like this. With my late nights recently and with many more to come, I would need a product like this which will repair my skin. Personally, I think the price is rather reasonable for 30ml of this product. At the rate that I am using, it’ll probably take me a longer time to finish. So, I really wouldn’t mind paying RM199 for a product that works. I’m actually considering using this in my regime for good!

If you are interested in the product, you can get them from http://www.cellnique.my/index.php/intensive-hydro-repair-elixir.html here or you can visit any Cellnique’s beauty centres. Eat: Quick meals around Damansara Uptown

Taking a break from my usual food reviews, this short post will be about the quick meals you can have in Damansara Uptown (which I feel is a food haven as it is). There are plenty of food eateries in the Uptown area and it’s one of those places I wished I had more time to explore. I said quick meals because these are what I call them as one plate dishes, everything served on a plate.

* * * * * * * * * *

Butter Pork Chop Rice | Dim Sum Kitchen

Assam Fish with Fried Mee Hoon | Dim Sum Kitchen

Dim Sum Kitchen, as the name suggests serves dim sum in the morning and in the afternoon, you can expect dishes like the above. Over here, you can pretty much mix and match. Say for example, you can pick your choice of meat and have them cook it the butter style and have it served with rice. Or you can have black pepper style with noodles. Just pick the styles from the menu and choose your rice/noodles. Just that easy.

Original Lam Mee | Lameeya

Lameeya is probably a familiar name for many because they have other branches elsewhere besides Damansara Uptown. Here, I tried their Original Lam Mee which comes with pork balls along with the usual chicken slices and prawns. The pork balls won me over, along with the deliciously thick broth. This dish was filling on its own, I could finish it but I won’t be eating it for a while now. There are other types of lam mee sold there as well as rice dishes too.

Butter Fish Rice | Fusion Kitchen

Initially I didn’t want to put this picture in this post, but as it turns out my other pictures were unusable. Hence, I decided to include Fusion Kitchen as well. But to be honest, I had their Butter Fish Rice and as good as it looks, it made feel like puking after having it. The butter sauce was cooked with condensed milk, making the whole dish super duper icky disgusting sweet. It also made the fish super sticky. I would stay away, miles away from this restaurant and no second chances given. The drinks was awful as well. But, the place serves no pork and they serve mostly Chinese style dishes.

* * * * * * * * * *

And that’s it, peeps! This list is hardly exhaustive and I have barely scratched the surface for all the delicious quick meals you can have in Damansara Uptown. I might actually do a part two on this, depending on when I’m back there again. :) Hope you enjoyed reading this!

Event: Malaysia’s Largest Clothes Buffet, 2014 Edition!

It’s probably no huge surprise that the two things I love the most is food and clothes. You can tell from the amount of food posts in my blog to know how much I love them, and as for clothes, you’re looking at someone who is capable of buying 10 dresses in three hours. I always found it amusing that I can do that, but at the same time it’s not healthy. I can feel myself turning into a compulsive shopaholic!

Much to the dismay of my mother, unfortunately. It reached to a state where she actually bans me from buying anymore clothes and now, she is trying to keep track of the amount of clothes I have (every time I get something new). So much so, that it had actually inspired a new photography project, check my Instagram for the pictures. So, I’m technically not supposed to be shopping. Except someone heard my prayers and now we have the Malaysia’s Largest Clothes Buffet.

I’m going to tell my mom I’m going for a BUFFET, except that it’s a clothes buffet now. The concept is so amazing, because just like in an actual buffet, there is plenty of food to pick from and you can eat everything that your stomach can take! It’s exactly the same for the Clothes Buffet. You’ll get these 9 x 14 inches ziplock bag for just RM60, and then, you enter the ‘buffet’ area and grab/stuff as many pieces you can into the bag in just 15 minutes! As long as you can fit the clothes into the bag and zip it, everything is yours to take!

Bag on Left: 4 x dresses Bag on Right: 1 x dress, 4 x skinny belts, 1 x clincher, 1 x pair of stockings

This a whole new level of shopping, and it already sounds so exciting! I can just imagine how crazy I’ll go seeing all those clothes and having to pick within 15 minutes. If I’m lucky, I might even break the record of 16 pieces  in one ziplock bag. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that. But I heard that these bags run out fast so the best way to secure your spot is by buying tickets in advance. You can get them here; Tickets to Malaysia Clothes Buffet and thank me later. Heh.

Other than the Clothes Buffet, there will be a Blowout Sale where clothes are going at only RM10 each! It’s even cheaper than pasar malam, OMG. This sale happens everyday on those three days from 4pm to 6pm. Besides the sale, there will also be a Fashion Bazaar so fashionistas out there, this is all a dream come true!

For more information, do hop over to the official Facebook page or the website at www.malaysiaclothesbuffet.com. If you stalk the Facebook page, you’ll notice that sneak peaks of clothes have been posted up there. That will be give you an idea of the type of clothes to expect on that day! Check out the album here!

The picture above shows the map to the Syopz Mall, which is basically where Taylor’s is too. Haha. I’ll end this post with some of the terms and conditions, just so you’ll know what they are. :)
